US: Initial jobless claims fall to 2-month low

US initial jobless claims fell by 4,000 to a seasonally adjusted 259,000 in the week ended Sep 3, the Labor Department said Thursday. 

This reading came in below the 265,000 expected and marked the lowest level in almost two months. Claims for the prior week were unrevised at 263,000.     

Continuing unemployment claims fell by 7,000 to 2,144,000 in the week ended Aug 27, below the 2,153,000 expected by analysts.
