MSCI to consider adding Saudi Arabia to key index during 2019 - RTRS

Global index compiler MSCI announced late-Tuesday that it plans to upgrade Saudi Arabia to emerging market status, Reuters reported.

MSCI will announce its decision in June 2018, and any move to upgrade would take effect in two phases - in May 2019 and August 2019.

MSCI estimated 32 major Saudi stocks would gain emerging market status, giving the country a potential weight of 2.4% in its index.

The above headlines come after China A shares were included in the MSCI Emerging Market (EM) Index on Tuesday.
